Best Bakery in Los Alamitos.
A family legacy in Los Alamitos.
For more than 50 years, Katella Bakery, Deli & Restaurant has been a trusted part of the Los Alamitos community. Founded by Sam and Shirley after their journey from Eastern Europe to America, Katella began as a family dream built on perseverance, hospitality, and honest food. What started generations ago continues today with the same purpose and pride.
Recipes passed down, not replaced.
The heart of Katella lives in the recipes that have been handed down through our family. Many of our traditional meals are still prepared using Shirley’s original recipes, including Matzo Ball Soup, Potato Latkes, Sweet and Sour Cabbage, and Chicken Soup. Every dish reflects the home-style cooking and care that defined our kitchen from the very beginning.
Baked the same way, every day.
Our bakery remains rooted in tradition. Fresh rye bread, challah, cakes, and pastries are baked in-house daily, just as they always have been. A portion of our original mother dough still starts each loaf we bake today, preserving the flavor and character that guests have known for decades.
Continuing the tradition.
From house-made corned beef and pastrami to signature sandwiches and classic meals, Katella Bakery, Deli & Restaurant remains committed to doing things the way they were taught—by hand, with care, and without shortcuts. We are grateful to everyone who has made Katella part of their family tradition and are honored to continue serving Los Alamitos for generations to come.
